How To Use

To enjoy the maximum benefits of Pantoprazole, you should take it regularly and at approximately the same time every day. Keep taking this medication for as long as your prescription lasts. Stopping treatment early may cause a regression in your condition.

Overdose

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Pantoprazole, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next scheduled dosage, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double up on this medication to make up for a missed dosage.

Notes

So not share this medication with others as they may have a condition that is not adequately treated with Pantoprazole.

Individuals taking Pantoprazole could be at increased risk of bone fractures, especially elderly people or people who have been taking this medication for a prolonged period of time or in high dosages. Take supplements such as vitamin D or calcium as preventative measure.

Pantoprazole may affect the results of certain laboratory tests (such as urine tests for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Inform your doctor or healthcare professional that you are taking this medication before undergoing any kind of test.

Pantoprazole is classified as Pregnancy Category B, which means it is not expected to cause harm to an unborn baby. However, if you are currently pregnant or planning to become pregnant during treatment, you should always seek advice from your doctor first before you start taking this medication.

Pantoprazole passes into breast milk and could potentially harm a nursing infant. It is therefore advised to discontinue breastfeeding while taking this medication.

Drug Interactions

Before taking Pantoprazole, you should tell your doctor about all other medication you are currently using, including:

• Clopidogrel
• Nelfinavir
• Amphetamines
• Ampicillin
• Atazanavir
• Iron supplements
• Azole antifungals (e.g. ketoconazole)

This is only a partial list and other medications may negatively interact with Pantoprazole. Inform your doctor of all other prescription and non-prescription medication you are currently using, including dietary supplements, vitamins, minerals, herbal pills and medicines prescribed by other doctors. Do not start or stop using any medication without discussing this with your doctor first.

The following potential side effects of Pantoprazole may occur:

• Headache
• Diarrhea

The above side effects are usually mild and should only last temporarily. Contact your doctor as soon as possible if any of these side effects persist or worsen.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, they could be a sign you have a more severe condition. Let your doctor know straightaway if you have any of these symptoms:

• Heartburn with lightheadedness, sweating and/or dizziness
• Chest pain or shoulder pain (especially combined with trouble breathing, sweating, lightheadedness and/or pain spreading to arms, jaw, neck or shoulders)
• Unexplained weight loss

Rarely, you may experience a severe allergic reaction to Pantoprazole. Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any of the following symptoms:

• Rash
• Itching or swelling (especially of the face, tongue or throat)
• Severe dizziness
• Trouble breathing
