Generic Avapro (Irbesartan) may pass into breast milk and it is therefore advised not to take this medication while breastfeeding.

Drug Interactions

Before using Generic Avapro (Irbesartan), notify your doctor of all other medications you are currently using, including:

• Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors (e.g. ramipril, enalapril)
• Diuretics (e.g. hydrochlorothiazide, furosemide)
• Lithium
• Medications that increase the level of potassium in the blood (e.g. spironolactone, amiloride, triamterene or salt substitutes that contain potassium)
• Other blood pressure medications
• Potassium pills or potassium supplements

Inform your doctor of all other prescription and non-prescription medications you are currently using, including herbal pills, vitamins, minerals, dietary supplements and medicines prescribed by other doctors. Do not start or stop using any medication without discussing this with your doctor first.

The following common side effects of Generic Avapro (Irbesartan) may occur:

• Dizziness
• Lightheadedness
• Stomach upsets

The above side effects are usually mild and should only last temporarily. Talk to your doctor as soon as possible if any of the above effects persist or worsen.

Inform your doctor immediately if you encounter any of these unlikely but serious side effects:

• Fainting
• Slow or irregular heartbeat
• Unusual decrease in the amount of urine

In rare cases, you may experience a severe allergic reaction to Generic Avapro (Irbesartan). Seek urgent medical attention if you have any of the following symptoms:

• Rash
• Itching or swelling (especially of the face, tongue or throat)
• Severe dizziness
• Trouble breathing
